Hey there. Here's a little heads-up that this is a follow up to my return post. No need to catch up, but it'll be nice if you check it out.

This is a little update for the project that I had talked about in my last post.

I have severely under-estimated my ability at managing my schedules, and focusing on a single task and seeing it through.

I did make some progress to it, if very little, as I continued to divvy up focus between the pile of unrelated and unfinished Projects I have.

What I have done so far, was making some head way with the 'redesigns' for the characters of The Heir -

A 'story' that I had made in collaboration with my friends during our grade school years. It soon detached from its identity as a few characters set in a Minecraft-like fantasy world, and evolved into its own thing.

Granted, it was a half-heartedly developed story; used to explain why the characters I've created are together in the first place, and why they are in conflict with the characters made by my friends for our play pretend sessions.

It wasn't until I thought about the 'story' a bit more, and took it, in manner of speaking, more serious. Where it expanded beyond a story, and into a whole pantheon, with a creation myth.

A mythos, while a bit rough, and still under-developed in some aspects. It was lacking enough details that it still works for me; as I still use it as a referencial baseline for my future ideas, with some unrelated concepts that still managed to connect themselves back to it.

All of it, began with a character, who I created to roleplay as for a session of recess play pretend; a half- human, and... a half Enderman hybrid kid.

It's a Minecraft inspired character. One I proudly owned up for, because it felt like a novel idea that combined several things that I loved from the game, cartoons, the tropes I've seen in them, and superpowers.

Not long after their creation, they were later joined by an alternate roleplaying option of a brooding swordswoman.

Who wields a dagger that can shapeshift into other bladed weapons, and who soon took over as the main character of which this story is centered around.

When I decided to distanced these characters from their source materials, taking that important step of making them 'original'; I first began with changing a few details of their characters.

Then going all or nothing, and added a whole host of other concepts and elements for these characters to interact with, and to clutter up a new world.

The most drastic change is the Half-Human, Half-Enderman/Ender Dragon hybrid.

Who is changed into an unfortunate kid that became a host for one, then two conflicting Dragons, or as I call them, and the other monsters they are grouped together with - Entities.

Two thematically rivalling Entities of Draconic origins that represents Creation and Light, and, Destruction and Darkness, respectively.

The Dragon that embodied Destruction, aptly named, Destroyer, was affixed to the kid to explain away a main design detail of his, where a literal half of his body (the left vertical half) is just dark pixels/scales.

The Swordswoman character also went through a lot of change, but rather than rewrites, I instead piled on more characteristics to make her more suited, and stand out as the main character.

Details such as a troubled past involving her family, members of whom might be connected to the story's overarching plot; an alternate version of herself in a more modern and urban setting, made conveniently for me to recycle her for a different setting in the play session with my friend.

And a name. Which signifies the importance of her role - Nevaeh. It's Heaven... spelled backwards.

- Keep in mind that these are things that I am recalling from way back in early 2010's.

In their most untampered, and cringe-worthy galore - much befitted as creations of a kid who adds whatever cool things they saw from other existing characters to their own, thinking that it'll also make them cool. -

- So... try not to judge too much. Please. -

There are other characters too, but they are less developed beyond just the concept of what they are. Some, without so much as an attempt to physically visualize their appearance beyond some word prompts.

- Like a Blacksmith, who uses Crystals and Gemstones rather than metals in their works. Due to his world being made entirely of Crystals and Gemstones.

- A Witch. Just the idea of a witch, clad in the classic wide brimmed, poited hat ,and dark clothings. Who uses magic without a set rule to temper it - and who just so happens to travel with the Blacksmith character.

- A Hunter, or Bounty hunter, who is also named Hunter. There is little recollection of what he is, except for a plotline when he is trapped in a cave system with Neveah.

- And a Ninja who is tied to a Nine-Tailed Fox. Besides the sake of just having a ninja character, and having some 'inspiration' from a certain Anime.

The two characters became important plot-wise and lore-wise respectively, to the story and the overall lore I follow for subsequent stories. Benefited from their status as my pet characters, where I insert them in any scenarios and interactions with absurdly undented plot armor.

These are the few from an entire cast of characters that I will talk about now. Since they are the ones in the sub-category of sub-categories, of this project that I have focused my attention on.

My efforts directed to work on their modern redesigns (or designs for those that lacked one).

Which is based on the re-interpretation/remake of the original story, finally giving it a concrete plot for these characters to stand on.

A Story which will have a separate post dedicated to it, and the lore it is built on.

But as I said, it isn't much at the moment.

I tried to make it easier for me by using a simpler style for the mock up designs of the first four characters I've mentioned - The Human/Enderman Hybrid kid, The Swordswoman main character, The Blacksmith/Jewel Smith, and The Witch. See below,

The Heir - Character Design Sketch
The Heir - Character Design Sketch
The Heir - Character Lineart //Cloaked//
The Heir - Character Lineart //Uncloaked//

I've settled on their individual designs, and went through with their sketches and lineart phase- although I has some details scraped, or needed greater emphasis on.

Now I am working to tackle on their color palette and the coloring process for them - which isn't my strong suit.

So for now, I leave the sketch and Lineart of these characters. Maybe soon I will revealed their finished design, colors and all, and in the art style I am currently used to.

Since there is a likely guarantee that it'll be posted sometime after the deadline at the end of May - excluding posts related to my other projects that I might upload to make up for it.

But other than that. Thank you - for staying til the end of this post.
