It's that time of year again and boy has it come and go in a blink of an eye. And with it comes time to present the current development in a not so little restoration project to revisit and reimagine old and the very first stories and concepts I have made.

So without too much daddling around, let's begin.

Nostalgia Project

Starting with a complied piece for the banners. Featuring the 'main' characters of the 3 stories that began the start of my interest in worldbuilding, and used to help explore the worlds they are set in. All messily tangled in 'what-if' random scenarios and any 'cool' ideas that comes to mind. Leaving it all mish mash of a 'thing' with little structure aside from a fixed character cast and setting.

And boy, was it quite the skin cringing experience to reimmerse myself, and then remember most and any details in the effort to organized and archive them in a coherent format.

It was nonetheless a good reminder for why I wanted to start this little project in the first place. If only to not go through that again.

Of the three stories; majority of the worldbuilding and set dressing came from the story in the first banner.

Where two characters, originally made for the purpose of recess role playing. Taking little time before they were used as the base for the mythos where most, if not all of the stories and ideas I have came up with, are set in.

Where the elements of a World-Sapping tree and its red crystal fruits and the gem-like seeds, concept embodying monsters or physical avatars and the general dysfunctional dynamics of characters came and evolved started from there.

And aside from the overall setting where every individual stories take place in a self-contained world, itself a by-product of a dreaming 'god'. Those were part of a consistent template that is still used or defaulted to when creating a setting for a new story idea.

Now returning to these stories with the purpose of organizing a coherent storyline and reimagining them with more personal understanding of what role I envisioned them to have. Starting with,

The Heir

Originally an attempt to make sense of the roleplaying shenanigans beyond the free for all, battle royale purpose. Mostly since it was a fun thing to do and from a budding attachment to the two characters I have made. One an Enderman hybrid kid and anothed a swordsman named Nevaeh (because, of course that's her name) with a shapeshifting blade, both very cool~ concepts at the time, and honestly still stand by it as a little time capsule of my then interests in Minecraft and fantasy setting stories and media, and as baby's first and second.

And to reiterate, that attempt became the start of your truly's interest in worldbuilding. Not the perfect first nor does it make sense and runs on the cool~ factor, but definitely quite the fun to try and fit all the random pieces together without cutting them out.

Giving a 'short' summary of the now revised plot; a pariah escorting a strange young man to a lost civilization to sever his ties to a world-ending entity before it arrives to their world. Their travels marred by the pariah's resemblence to a heretical figure who had singlehandedly destroyed the crux of their faith and way of life - a supposedly indestructible, sky piercing tree.

From bounty hunters aiming to collect the Pariah's head. Authorities investigating pockets of vacuum space left by the young man. Leaving little allies than a precious few fugitives like the young man, from another world who seeks to shelter from their destroyed worlds. Wanting to evict the young man for his ties to the entity and prevent the destruction of their current home.

The Nomad

Timeline wise, this stort was made a while after both the worldbuilding and story crafting of Heir and the later story that will be touched on, Butcher, are made. Simply made to fit all the short individual stories unrelated to the first two. Making it a sort of Anthology collection with the main character shown, Belle tying most of them together.

While the stories are used to explore the overall setting of the mythos, now christened The Dreamscape, for all the stories and concepts made from 2017~ and back, in separating with the current pile of unfinished stories and concepts.

Unrelated to the elements of giant trees, crystal fruits and mythical creatures. Nomad is made go cover the larger setting where most if not all of the stories made during those years, even if they are made separately and unrelated to the 3 stories. Those stories and the elements mentioned already are part of a mythos that is explored in this series of stories.

Mostly involving implications brought from worldbuilding the setting of Heir, to be better explored in Nomad. Such as characters and Entities that were not mentioned in Heir, or were and had since been separated to be their own plot. The concept of world hopping and their restrictions that better explains a plot thread in Heir as well as the tenuous and complicated relationship chains of an Entity to a Host; and a Host to an Anchor that share a similar role but aren't interchangeable.

Since it is mostly a collection of short stories than an overarching plot, there really isn't much to summarize than basically;

In the dreams of a sleeping god are living, populated worlds cluttered but separate from interfering the lives of their individual residents. When their reality began to distort from the arrival of strange beasts and men from other world, of which is a strange traveler and their stranger companion, rather invested of their plight and routines. Even as the worlds began to wither and die, come unbalance by their arrival and interference.

All too aware of their part in a natural cycle within the dreams of a sleeping god.

The Butcher

Originally a separate timeline situation to the world and sotry of the Heir, a la Spiderverse and the likes. With the Heir setting itself in an medieval fantasy time while the Butcher is set in an modern, fantasy-urban esque period.

Mostly recycling the characters than plot as there wasn't much of one or too much of the set pieces; the world trees, red gems, fantastical Entities. And mainly as a way to place the two original characters in a modern setting for more roleplaying purposes.

Making two of the main characters of their respective story, Nevaeh (Heir), and Claudie (Butcher), the same person but set in different time in a reincarnation sort of situation. While the only difference for the other player option, the enderman hybrid kid, is an aged-up appearance and a more incoherently feral personality (because?).

Other than that, there really wasn't much there aside from the setting itself eventually used as a placeholder for other characters and their own respective stories.

That really was it for the 'story' if its just focusing on the characters and their plot. And it wasn't too difficult compared to the other two stories to make revisions and a plot, since there wasn't much in the first place. As other than making the main character their own and separate from their original role as a reincarnation of another character, replacing the other character with an original creation. That's really it.

And it makes sense. Since by that time, most of the focus was still their predecessor. So it was put on the backburner to revisit from time to time to explore the same worldbuilding elements in a modern time period.

Which is the intent in this reimagining. Exploring the existing elements not touched on too much of the other two stories, and emphasising on the consequences and impact that were not too important to their respective plots.

With the general gist of the plot boiling to this summary; after surviving a chemical explosion with the exceptions of inoperable sharpnel lodged in her head. Claudie sets to investigate the incident and similar accidents seemingly connected by a string of disappearance and rumors of a strange, spreading hunger.

Hoping to uncover the cause of the explosions and disappearances, before she falls victims to the same gnawing hunger.

And that's really it.

With the month's end meaning a personal deadline for the current progress, it is a restriction I am thinking of doing away with. If only to actually put more effort in working on a better compiled post of the original worldbuilding elements for leisurely persuing purposes, and a blueprint reference for if and when I do decide to work on the old ideas, or borrow some of the existing characters and concepts in future stories.

As a little treat since it'll be a while before another related post appropreate for some of the art pieces made. Here some sneakpeeks of some of the Works in progress before they're better organized to fitted the other unfinished pieces,
